Once upon a time in a land not so far from the St. Louis city limits, Maplewood, a curly haired ogre and a queen slept in their old Victorian home. In his dreams that night, the ogre, who we will call "Tom," saw himself frolicking through a field of SCOBYs. He awoke the following morning, shook the queen awake, and proclaimed "Let's start a kombucha company." They built a kingdom that they named COMKOMtopia, and they all lived happily ever after. If only it had been that simple . . .
It is true that Tom woke up one morning in 2014 with the unshakable desire to start a kombucha company. He and Tricia had brewed it at home for many years and, to put it simply, loved the way it made them feel. It took them a long year of tastings, sourcing the best ingredients, and getting their method right to produce a large volume before officially launching COM KOM in April 2015.
Tom has used his extensive experience in multiple industries to transform that dream he had into a reality. He never knew what a jack of all trades he would have to be for this job, but his passion for sharing his product with St. Louisans continues to grow as the company expands.
Though Tom lives and breathes kombucha these days, the business is most definitely also something the whole family is passionate about. In addition to our other team members, Tricia acts as his business partner and their daughter works as production manager. Their three sons spend more weekends than they probably like learning the ins and outs of making kombucha in between doing their homework and their one year old granddaughter often toddles around at festivals.
We think St. Louis is the best place to live and want to bring the best product to the community that we can. We believe wholeheartedly that COM KOM makes you feel fantastic, whether you are using it to quench your thirst after a workout or sipping it from a glass while kicking back at a picnic in Forest Park.
